24/48 (Assorted Moments)

Perhaps this is a bit off topic but it's fun. This is not a 48 hr film. with some down time at the 48hr film festival i made this little movie. which i do believe may be the only film within-a-film in a project such as that, it was done in under 24hrs. My goal was to make something, that was A) quality and B) qualified for the fest. So i used the required prop, genre, line of dialogue and i believe i narrowly made it the right length. It features PDXact Regular Lindsae Klein and myself (Vincent Caldoni) as well as Basho Parks, and the vocal talents of dear wife Racheal. Here's the specs:

Name: Brian or Brianna Merriwhether

Prop: A picture frame

Line: For Cryin' out loud

Genre: Mockumentary.

Team name: Team Tunafish.

Of course i never entered the fest with this, i was on another team so the film was never entered, or judged. Meaning i basically made it to make myself laugh, and my sense of humor is-um-not quite what others is. So i grant you apologies if it doesn't make you laugh and is just another foreign film from non-sequitorial guinea.

It's been a really great summer.

It really has we have a bunch of new videos coming up. Robert's been working often on Leverage a lot and some films with Todd Freeman. For my part I shot a film Producer CK Lichenstein II and the great Galvin Collins, which should be premiering in the fall. (I even did some acting in, which was scary.) And have had big hits on two different feature projects I've been trying to get off the ground forever. We're gearing up for a couple of screenings and hoping to try to get a whole new "salon" style screening going on a semi-regular basis. In the mean time here's a great little trailer for one of our summer scenes.

Our Third Session

Seems like were settling into a good workflow. Things went smoothly with filming for the most part and as we do this more editing gets easier and smoother. The biggest challenges were dealing with the fact that Robert's career is quite well. He has had take time off to shoot with Brendan Fraiser and Harrison Ford on Crowley and with Timothy Hutton Leverage. Vincent for his part had to cram in getting married, winning film festival award and a grant. Part of what balanced all this business was having guest DP and Coraline shooter Galvin Collins come by and shoot a couple of our scenes. Which added to the production value.

We had our largest crowd ever for the screening and there was a jovial atmosphere, people made comments like "Wow, what movie is this from?" again first timers expressed their support for what we do and returning guests were surprised by our continued improvements. For our part we were blown away by the quality our students showed. We had some real big success in terms of work and representation too which always, always warms our stoney hearts!

Our Second Session

Wow! This is becoming a regular routine already... only not. This term presented some real challenges in filming, as a result of us feeling a need to push ourselves and come up with better content. I would imagine that all could have been lost in the course of some very challenging shoots but we had some great people, including a couple of repeats, who were able to hold on through long shoots and set ups. The screening was very well received this time, and all of the hard work on everyone's part paid off. Those who returned to view our work were impressed by the improvements. I for one think we pulled things off very well. The screening was a success and people moved closer to their goals as a direct result.

The Inagural Session

Our first session has just wrapped. And while I could say that everything went exactly according to plan, I think we shot some amazing scenes with some amazing students. The screening was well received, even if people had to brave an ice storm to attend, and we managed to lure in some really great people from casting and representation agencies who pretty much universally impressed by the final products and the quality of most of the cast members. People found management, auditions, roles and work of many types, which is something I'm particularly proud of.

Looking backward all I can say what a wild ride. Well in closing: please find, below, the films that came out of very first session. I sincerely hope you enjoy them. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard on these.

In addition to our standard acting classes we offer the following :

Private Acting sessions and scene work with Robert Blanche. This is a great way to rapidly improve your film acting and supplement our coursework. Also it can be a great idea to sign up for a private session or two in preparation for that big audition.

Screenwriting Boot-Camp with Vincent Caldoni. Private or Group sessions. Writing that movie script you've always wanted to write is actually far less difficult than you may think. I offer a simple, flexible course that instructs you on the style and format of screenwriting as well the all important guide to structure and character development.

Reel Work with Vincent Caldoni. Having a reel available on-line and in DVD format is quintessential for getting roles but often working actors have only held small roles or feel type-cast by what they have shot. I offer a service where we go out and shoot brief clips of any nature and can edit them into an existing reel to show casting directors, agents, and producers exactly what you are capable of.

Learn the craft of film acting from the Pros with actor Robert Blanche and Director Vincent Caldoni. We offer full-force acting classes for adults and youths at our well equipped studio without the usual hang-ups on theoreticals. This is a class conducted by working industry professionals designed to help you reach you maximum talent potential and give you a leg up finding work in the industry.

Our process removes barriers and gets you straight to the honesty at the center of our craft and utilizes up- to-the-minute technology to get you started marketing yourself as a screen actor.

Here’s what each five week course offers:

4 intensive sessions focused on direct scene work in our theater-style performance space in Portland.

1 on camera performance session, written for you and shot as a complete scene for the movies. To see some examples of what we've shot in past classes and learn more about this process click here.

Plus: The films made of your performance will be viewed and critiqued by industry professionals, such as casting directors, working actors, directors and producers.
